BRUNSWICK — The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk will be held Oct. 4 at the Brunswick downtown Mall. Registration for this noncompetitive event begins at 10 a.m. and the walk is set to start at 11 a.m.

Money raised enables the society to fund breast cancer research, provide free, comprehensive information and support to those touched by the disease and help people take steps to reduce their breast cancer risk or find it early when it’s most treatable.

“Uniting with others at the Making Strides walk gives us power to make a real difference in the fight to end breast cancer in the Bath/Brunswick community,” said, Matt Kennedy, American Cancer Society Community Manager for the walk, in a statement. “At the event, we are able to celebrate survivorship and pay a meaningful tribute to those touched by the disease. Thanks to participants, the American Cancer Society is there for those who are currently dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis, those who may face a diagnosis in the future, and those who may avoid a diagnosis altogether because of education and risk reduction.”
