LEWISTON/AUBURN
L/A Arts has announced the venues and performances for Art Walk L/A, which will take place from 5-8:30 p.m. Friday.
At 5:30 p.m., a public ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the installation of the L/ A Rattle sculpture will take place at 163 Lisbon St. The mayors from Auburn and Lewiston and other special guests will speak, and the Chamber of Commerce will lead an official ribbon cutting to unveil the public art piece.
Two musical groups will play, the New England Jazz Band will play beginning at 6 p. m. at Dufresne Plaza, while Art Walk staples the Juke Joint Devils will play at 8 p.m. at She Doesn’t Like Guthries. This month’s featured artists are Quiltessentials, who have transformed the Argo Marketing space into an extensive gallery featuring the work of some outstanding quilt artists in the area.
More than 20 venues are booked — including six in Auburn — where the talents of many new and revisiting local artists can be viewed. Art Walk features a full website which highlights evening’s events and has a full artist catalog of work at: www.artwalklewistonauburn.com.
Again this month, L/ A Arts encourages their Art Walk patrons to not only support local visual artists by coming to see their work, but also to purchase. In July, L/A Arts was proud to help facilitate artists selling over 20 pieces of work. With zero commissions, every dollar goes directly to the artists.
