A WORKS BY LEE CHEEVER

BRUNSWICK

Lee Cheever is showing a summer’s worth creative small works at the new Two Hands Creperie and Juice Bar at 4 Pleasant St., Brunswick.

Cheever’s “…of Fish and Fowl” celebrates the simple joys of water- and airborn animals in a variety of mediums. Her work, which includes many new pieces and some known favorites in oil pastel, wood carvings, collage, drawing and photography, will be on display and for sale at the restaurant and juice bar during the month of September.

Cheever is a Harpswell artist who creates vignettes and constructions inspired by her photographs of travel and life experience interacting with the natural world.

“The creature’s spirit I wish to capture suggests the medium,” she said. “The resulting work, whether fish or fowl, is not only a design approach but also captures the nature of the animal and its environment.”

As a retired art teacher, Cheever assigns herself work based on design principles and technique. She has shown at numerous venues in Midcoast Maine and Virginia including the Harlow Gallery, the River Arts Gallery, Summer Island Studio, the Crooker Gallery and solo shows. Her work has found homes nationwide in Maine, Florida, California, Virginia, New York and other states. She is an active member of the committee that produces the 10×10 Benefit Art Exhibit and Sale and has been a contributing member of Five Rivers Arts Alliance.
