According to a news release, Wyman has held multiple positions at Bath Iron Works, beginning his career in January 1959 as a probationary ship fitter. He became a first-class ship fitter in 1967; then became leading man in 1971, and assistant area supervisor in 1973. Over the ensuing years, he served as senior production planner and production planning specialist, and retired from Bath Iron Works on May 31, 1995, after more than 36 years of service at the company.
During his years at BIW, his responsibilities included CG and DDG long lead material scheduling, material control scheduling for engines, and reduction gears, and in process control of BIWmade items. His other responsibilities included updating computer mainframe information and new contracts, and the input and maintenance of all CG and DDG material schedules.
Wyman is a graduate of Phippsburg Elementary School and Morse High School in Bath. He is a graduate of the Bath Iron Works Management Course, as well as 24 courses at the BIW Training School, and the University of Maine course “The Industrial Foreman.”
Wyman has been active in many local organizations including St. Mary’s Church, as a lector and usher, and as treasurer of the Knights of Columbus Bath, and Columbian Club Inc. He has been the board chairman of Mid Coast Federal Credit Union, and a Bath City Council councilor, Ward 4, for more than 20 years. In addition, he has served as a past member of the Bath Noon Rotary, the Bath Lodge of the Elks, and as a member of the Bath Housing Development Corporation.
