The Planning Board meets Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m. , at Mallett Hall.
The Planning Board ordinance review workshop will be held Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 8 a.m., at Mallett Hall.
Pownal selectmen will meet Monday, Aug. 24, at 7 p.m., at Mallett Hall.
Community Club annual meeting
The annual meeting of the North Pownal Community Club will be held Monday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m., at the club, 857 Lawrence Road, and all members, neighbors and friends are welcome to attend. The agenda will include reports and discussion on finances, events, the repair project and more from the past year, and plans for next year. Call 688-4728 for more information.
Pig roast set on Saturday
The North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, is hosting a pig roast, Saturday, Aug. 22, from 5-6:30 p.m. The cost is $12 at the door, $7 for children 5-12, and free for children 4 and under. For more information, call Deb, 240-1637.
Upcoming dinners at Methodist church
The North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, will host a baked bean and spaghetti supper, Saturday, Sept. 5, from 4:30-6 p.m., at the church. On the menu are three kinds of beans, spaghetti with meat sauce, potato salad, cole slaw, biscuits and brown bread, pickled beets and assorted homemade pies. Tickets are $8, $3 for children 4-12 and free for children 3 and under. The church is handicapped accessible. For more information, call Kim, 865-3517.
The church is also hosting a pasta dinner Saturday, Sept. 12, from 4:30-6 p.m., to benefit the food pantry. On the menu are chicken Alfredo with broccoli, spaghetti with meatballs, macaroni and cheese, salads, bread and beverage, strawberry shortcake and chocolate cake. Supper menu features beans, spaghetti
On Saturday, Sept. 19, the First Parish Congregational Church 422 Hallowell Road, Pownal, hosts a baked bean and spaghetti supper, with settings at 5 and at 6 p.m. Tickets are $8, $4 for children 5-12 and free for children under 5. To reserve tickets, call Lois at 688-4433.
Pownal school reunion planned
An all-class reunion of Pownal Elementary School students and those who attended the one-room school houses in Pownal has been scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 22, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at Pownal Elementary School. Those who attend should bring their own lunch, family, lawn chairs and memories. Tent, grills and tables will be provided. Food pantry on Wednesdays
The North Pownal United Methodist Church food Pantry on 851 Lawrence Road is now open every Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The pantry never knows from week to week what it will be getting. Fellowship, coffee and snacks are served before food distribution. If any farmers or others would like to donate to the pantry, contact the Rev. Ray St. Pierre, 837-0682, or Deb Larrabee, 240-1637. The church office number is 688-4938. The pantry helps those in need and welcomes everyone.

North Pownal United Methodist Church worship service is Sunday at 9 a.m. Sunday School for children and adults is at 10:30 a.m.
