HARRISON — One man was killed Monday night in a single-car crash on Route 117 in Harrison in which speed and alcohol were believed to have played a role, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said.
Sheriff Kevin Joyce said deputies were responding to an emergency call in Harrison around 6:50 p.m. when they passed a car traveling in the opposite direction that was going 92 mph in a 55 mph zone.
Deputies continued to the emergency call, but were notified shortly afterward of a single-vehicle crash.
The driver, Kenneth K. Bryant, 31, of Harrison, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene.
Witnesses told police his vehicle hit a guardrail and flipped over at least 10 times. A member of the Harrison Fire Department was the first emergency responder to arrive.
Joyce said Bryant, who was alone at the time, was driving with a suspended license.
