Enthusiasm, energy and a message of hope – a group of 15 children and 5 accompanying adults from Haiti arrived in Boothbay, Maine on July 24 ready to share their music in both English and Creole. The youngsters have been hosted by local families in the Boothbay area while they rehearse in preparation for a 25+ concert tour from Maine to Pennsylvania.

The group is set to perform at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 1 at Mid-Coast Presbyterian Church in Topsham.

Barb House directs the choir and works with the children giving them the opportunity to develop their potential so they can make a positive impact on the world in which they live. The Hope Haitian Choir’s mission statement is: “To speak hope to America through the faith testimonies of those from Haiti and to give hope to Haiti through spiritual development and by practically helping them with education, food, water, medical care and other basic needs, always glorifying the name of Jesus Christ.”

The choir will share the faith and hope they have, even in the midst of the very difficult circumstances in their homeland. A free-will offering will give the opportunity to share monetarily to benefit projects in Haiti, such as starting a school and building a new well.
