BRUNSWICK — Raymond E. Chisholm, 90, of Cumberland Street, died July 19 at Winship Green Nursing Center in Bath.

He was born in Rockland on April 22, 1925, a son of Thomas H. and Gladys (Joyce) Chisholm.

Raymond graduated from Rockland High School, and earned a degree at Fordham University in New York. He also served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Later, Chisholm attended the University of Ottawa Seminary in Montreal, and was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1954 in Portland by Bishop Daniel J. Feeney. Chisholm served in Bangor, Gardiner and Portland, but eventually retired from the priesthood. He married Martha Konon in 1968.

For many years, Chisholm worked for the state of Maine as a rehabilitation psychologist, helping troubled children and teens at the Maine Youth Center in Portland. He retired in 1992, and soon moved with his wife to Bath.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Bath.

He was predeceased by his wife, Martha Chisholm, on Oct. 29, 2002; a son, Joseph Konon; a brother, Thomas Chisholm; and a sister, Catherine Leadbetter.

Chisholm is survived by his daughter, Marcia Turcotte, and her husband, Robert Turcotte Sr., of Woolwich; a brother, Donald J. Chisholm, of Owls Head; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation and a Knights of Columbus Service were held July 23 at Daigle Funeral Home in Bath. A Mass of Christian burial, with military honors, was celebrated July 24 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Burial was to be at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta at a later date.
