The Wiscasset Art Walk returns Thursday evening.

Big musical sounds wrap around the Wiscasset Art Walk 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 30. Breakers Jazz Band will make an encore appearance on the Creamery Pier, across from Red’s Eats, from 5:30-7 p.m. The band is made up of accomplished musicians from the greater Mid-coast area, and the sound is swinging and brassy. At the other end of the Village, on the grassy Common, the Wiscasset Chamber of Commerce presents Sea Chord, a rock/alternative rock band, from 6-8 p.m.

“MARBLE AND PORTRAIT” by Paul Lipp, oil, will be on display at Sylvan Gallery during Wiscasset Art Walk 5-8 p.m. on July 30.

Sarah’s Café and Moulinette Mercantile, on Main Street near the Creamery Pier, will coexhibit the photographic work of Anna Shaw. The photographer works digitally — no darkroom involved — to create archivallyprocessed black and white gelatin silver prints which have been treated with multiple toners to make them split between two colors, according to the artist.

Across the street at Sylvan Gallery, new paintings are constantly arriving from the gallery’s roster of 18 New England artists. Just in are “Marble and Portrait,” still life, rendered by artist Paul Lipp, and three new paintings of the Round Pond lupine field in full bloom by artist Robert Noreika who was recently inducted into the American Watercolor Society as a Signature Member.

The Wiscasset Bay Gallery’s current exhibit at 67 Main St., “Modern Life: 20th Century Art,” explores the changing face of art in the 20th century as advances in technology and growing urbanization altered the sensibilities and lifestyles of the contemporary population. Subjects are tumultuous, moody, and chronicle an expanding middle class and their leisurely pursuits.

A short stroll away at 8 Federal St., WBG Modern & Contemporary celebrates its debut season in a renovated 19th century barn with modern and contemporary works on paper, including a collection of surrealist photography. Jeff Grosser will perform on accordian.

On the south side of Main St., Ingram Fine Art & Antiques, 106 Main St., exhibits watercolors by Nobleboro artist Elizabeth Palmer. On the sidewalk, artist Bruce Goodwin, working in wood, will display his pieces under the tent.

“I shape and color wood, chasing primordial chuckles, shrieks and revelry lurking in the grain,” said Goodwin.

A wine tasting will be held at Treats 4:30-7 p.m. Next door, DebraElizabeth’s is hosting artist Jude Nickerson and her collection of textural sheep portraits.

Acoustic duo Twisted Strings will travel along sidewalks performing old and new tunes with traditional Celtic roots.

Touring maps are available at any Wiscasset Art Walk location.

Art Walks are held on the last Thursday of the summer months.
