PORTLAND — Warren “Bud/Buster” Knowles, 65, passed away suddenly at this home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Friday, July 10, 2015.
He was born in Portland on Feb. 11, 1950, the son of Warren Knowles and Joan (Martin) Knowles. Bud graduated from Portland High School in 1968. He served in the U.S. Air Force immediately after graduation for eight years.
He served as security guard and cook at the Maine Correctional Facility in Windham for 25 years before moving to Myrtle Beach to pursue his passion for golf. There he worked at Waterway Hills Golf Course and also as dispatcher for Excalibur Security in Myrtle Beach for 10 years.
On Aug. 30, 2002, he married Kathleen DiDonato/Clemm, who was his loving wife for 13 years.

He is survived by: his mother, Joan Hodgdon of Portland; his son, Scott Knowles of South Portland; daughters, Krista Zeh and husband Eben of Manchester, New Hampshire, and Kara Poulin and husband Brian of Old Orchard Beach; and stepdaughter Amanda Emmons of Lewiston. He was proud Papa Bud to Cody Blakie, Michah Zeh and Elijah, Marlo and Jaylynn Morgan. He also leaves: his sister, Cheryl (Knowles/Lewis) Quatrano and Andy of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee; nephews, Bob Lewis and family of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Gianni Quatrano and Joey Slamon of Reseda, California; as well as several aunts and cousins.
The family will hold an open house for friends and family to come and share memories on Saturday, July 18 from 3-6 p.m. at The Salvation Army, 2 Sixth St., Old Orchard Beach.
