Re: “FBI: Check failed to halt weapon sale to wanted gunman” (Page A1, July 11):

You do a service to the community when you publish the picture of a wanted fugitive, but you do us a grave disservice when you continue to publish his picture – on the front page, no less – after he has been captured.

You’re not only giving a mass murderer way too much publicity, you’re encouraging every extremist with an ax to grind to commit a heinous act to become famous.

Sure, you had to cover the FBI story, but you didn’t have to put Dylann Roof’s picture on the front page again.
