Saco police arrested three men following an investigation into drug activity at a cottage on Route 1.

The Saco Police Department launched the investigation after receiving a tip from Scarborough police about suspected drug activity in a cottage near the Saco-Scarborough town line. An undercover officer on Thursday saw a man leave the cottage at 1036 Portland Road, walk to a vehicle and transact what the officer suspected was a drug deal, according to Saco Deputy Chief Jeffrey Holland.

The driver of the car, 34-year-old Kenny Burke of 137 New Road in Arundel, was stopped and arrested after police found him in possession of .6 grams of heroin, needles used to inject drugs and cash, Holland said. Burke was charged with unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, a Class C felony, and misdemeanor violating conditions of release.

After the undercover officer observed the suspected drug transaction, Saco police obtained a warrant to search the cottage Thursday night. Police seized 6.3 grams of heroin, materials used to package drugs, needles and cash, Holland said. The two men in the cottage, Aleksei N. Legendre, 24, of 1036 Portland Road, and Abdoul Aziz Mounian, 26, of 1228 White Plain Road, Brooklyn, New York, were arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, a Class A felony.

Bail for Legendre and Mounian was set at $25,000 each. The men were taken to York County Jail in Alfred and are scheduled to appear in York County Superior Court on Aug. 21.

Because of the bail violation, Burke was not eligible for bail and was taken to York County Jail. Police will seek through a grand jury additional charges of misdemeanor operating under the influence of drugs and operating after suspension. He is scheduled to appear in York County Superior Court on Aug. 21.
