ALFRED — Lawrence E. Noone, 76, of Gore Road, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at the Gosnell Hospice House with his loving family by his side.
Larry was born in Rochester, New Hampshire on Feb. 11, 1939, the son of the late John and Myrtle H. Plumer Noone. He graduated from South Portland High School in the Class of 1958.
In 1960, he moved to East Hartford, Connecticut to pursue a career in the aircraft engine industry. His 39-year career with Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies, included many different positions. He started as a welder and his final position, before retirement, was as a continuous improvement coordinator for the North Berwick facility.
On Feb. 14, 2004, Larry married Vyara T. Stefanova in Alfred. Together they shared many happy times with family and friends. In his spare time, Larry enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing and was very active in his community.
Larry is preceded in death by: a sister, Carol Lovejoy; and two brothers, David and John Noone.
He is survived by: his wife, Vyara T. Noone of Alfred; three daughters, Kimberly Coutinho of Walpole, Massachusetts, Kristen Noone of West Hartford, Connecticut, and Jean Noone Binette of Lyman; two sons, Karl and his wife Tracy Noone of Groton, Massachusetts, and Caleb Noone of Memphis, Tennessee; a stepson, Alexander Kouzev of Bulgaria; two sisters, Beatrice Condon of Portland, and Priscilla Cayer of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, Nicholas and Benjamin Coutinho of Walpole, Massachusetts, Tyler and Jack Noone of Groton, Massachusetts, Lily and Cole Binette of Lyman, and Nikolay Kouzev of Bulgaria; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, July 11 from 1-3 p.m. at the Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway. A service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
