BIDDEFORD — David W. O’Brien, 66, of Biddeford, passed away suddenly on July 7, 2015.

He was born in Cambridge, Massach-usetts on May 21, 1949, the only child of David and Marie (Ferguson) O’Brien. He graduated from Thornton Academy, Class of 1967 and served in the United States Navy from 1969-1973.

In 1975, he began a 37-year career in the elevator trade. He served as Business Agent of IUEC Local 95 for 20 years, and held positions of treasurer and president. He was also appointed to the State of Maine Board of Elevator and Tramway Safety for several years. He was grateful for the many opportunities given to him by the IUEC.

David served as past president of the West Biddeford Little League and also coached pee-wee football. He loved his Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and especially Notre Dame Football. He enjoyed golfing with family and friends. He and his wife cherished every day they were together and lived life to the fullest. His sons were his pride and joy and his granddaughters were the light of his life.

David is survived by: his loving wife of 43 years, Sandra (Ajoian) O’Brien; two sons, Christopher E. O’Brien, and Keith D. O’Brien; two granddaughters, Hannah M. O’Brien, and Caitlin A. O’Brien; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

David felt blessed to have so many people touch his life and always wanted everyone to keep a smile on their face.

Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 10 at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James Street, Saco. A Funeral Mass will be held at noon on Saturday, July 11 at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford.

A graveside service with military honors will be at 1 p.m. Monday, July 13 at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco.
