BIDDEFORD — Stella E. Spirounias, 96, of Biddeford, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at St. Andre’s Healthcare in Biddeford.

She was born in Saco on Sept. 16, 1918, a daughter of James and Evangeline (Philip-akos) Spirounias. She graduated at the top of her class from Biddeford High School.

Stella was employed as a floor leader by Pepperell Manufacturing in Biddeford for 38 years. She also worked in their family business at Charlie’s Restaurant in Old Orchard Beach and Scarborough.

Stella was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Saco and a member of St. Fotini Ladies Society and Lacones Society.

She enjoyed traveling abroad, especially to Greece. She also wintered in Florida for many years.

Stella had a wry sense of humor, which will be sadly missed. She was loved by her family, especially by her nieces and nephew.

She is preceded in death by: her three brothers, George, Stephen, and Charles Spirounias; and by one sister, Krisoula Spirounias.

She is survived by: her sister-in-laws, Helen Spirounias, and Antonia Spirounias; her nephew, James Spirounias; two nieces, Evangelea Kelly, and Maria Brignall; two grand-nephews, Chas and Andrew; and two grand-nieces, Hope and Antonia.

Visiting Hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, with the Trisagion Prayer Service at 5 p.m., at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James Street, Saco.

A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, July 9 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Saco. Burial will follow in St. Demetrios Cemetery in Biddeford.
