A Bowdoinham man was arrested Friday night after allegedly threatening a woman with a hand gun.

The incident was reported Friday at approximately 9 p.m. on South Pleasant Street, and resulted in the arrest of Stephen Gerry Jr., 38, of Bowdoinham. He was charged with domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, obstructing the report of a crime, and criminal restraint.

Chief Deputy Brett Strout of the Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Office said the incident stemmed from custody issues. Gerry allegedly threatened the woman with a hand gun.

“She got away from the house and was able to make the report at the (Richmond) police department,”

Strout said that the victim “got away from the house” and made a report at the Richmond Police Department. Sagadahoc deputies conducted the actual arrest.

“We went over to the residence in Bowdoinham and arrested him without incident,” Strout said.

Strout said other family members were home at the time of the incident and said the gun was not fired and no one was injured. Gerry was taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset where he remained Monday as of 1 p.m.
