OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Nancy Wells Jackman, 83, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, June 29, 2015 after a battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma.

She was born on July 11, 1931 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, Massa-chusetts, the daughter of A. Edwin and Elsie Mae Woodland Wells.

She graduated from Melrose High School in 1949 and Boston University in 1953 with a major in Latin and a minor in German. She taught school in New Haven, Connecticut, Seekonk and North Attleboro, Massachusetts.

In 1974, she moved to Ocean Park after having spent her summers in Ocean Park since 1931. She worked for the Maine Central Railroad and at the Maine Turnpike (at the old exit 8).

Nancy was an accomplished musician, playing the trombone and piano. She was a lifelong Ocean Parker. She was an avid skier, having skied Tuckerman’s Ravine. She was a railroad buff, a lover of birds and flowers, a champion shuffleboarder and a competitive card player.

She is survived by: her orange kitty, Ginger Georgie; and her children, Barry Jackman and wife Lynne of Saco, Kenneth Jackman and wife Pamela of Damariscotta, and Audrey Jackman Cabral and husband Daniel of Saco. She is also survived by: her grandchildren, Cameron and Calle Jackman; and her step-grandchildren, Joshua and Sumner F. Richards IV, and Joe St. Hilaire.

Calling hours will take place on Thursday, July 2 from 5-8 p.m. at Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main Street in Saco.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 10 at 6 p.m. in Jordan Memorial Hall in Ocean Park.
