The Bridgton Recreation Advancement Group (BRAG) is gearing up for another step in bringing another sport to the Kendal and Anna Ham Recreation Complex on Route 302 in Bridgton. The group has four baseball/softball fields and various configurations of soccer/lacrosse fields and organizers have started a fundraising drive to bring tennis courts for tournament play, public use, and for Lake Region High School to use for meets and practices.
BRAG is in the process of building a committee for this process spearheaded by Bridgton resident Peter Morrison. He is looking for people to be on the committee from the towns of Casco, Naples, Sebago, and Bridgton. Morrison said that having people from all four towns would be beneficial since Lake Region High School will be using these courts.
The tennis committee’s focus will be to write grants, come up with designs for the tennis courts, get bids for the project, and to gain support from the local communities. Some funding has already been pledged from a couple of organizations, Morrison said, however, a significant amount must be raised before the project can begin.
When completed the Ham Complex will house four fenced-in tennis courts with a couple of courts designed to accommodate multiple sports such as basketball and pickleball.
