Fugitive Robert Burton was spotted Wednesday night walking along a snowmobile trail in Guilford, according to Maine State Police.

Burton, who is suspected in the killing of his ex-girlfriend Stephanie Ginn Gebo, was spotted by a local resident who called police about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday. He was seen stepping onto the trail from the woods, then he saw the resident and quickly disappeared back into the woods.

The sighting was along the ITS snowmobile trail, off Route 15, near the Lows Covered Bridge.

Burton was wearing camouflage clothing and was carrying a dark backpack, police said.

State police spent several hours in the area Wednesday night looking for Burton, but he continued to elude searchers. Police are continuing to search for Burton, working out of Parkman Town Hall.

State police are reminding residents in the area that Burton is considered armed and dangerous. Residents should lock their houses, vehicles and any outbuildings, leave outside lights on at night and call police to report any suspicious activity.
