These words were recently intoned by Army Capt. Steve Voglezon when he saved two people’s lives: “We have a calling to do whatever we we’re called to do … today, I was called to be there at that spot, at that time.”
As in the above, those mentioned here have been called and by their supportive donation answered that call enabling those in need to walk that extra mile. We now here recognize those names by having them step forward: Marion Orr, Rachel Smith, Edmund and Joan Bridges, William and Helen Carney, Jodi Boehm, Ron and Rachel Bolduc, Joseph and Doris Buonomo, Dorothy Jarry, Ann Marie Kenney, Sue Hillman and Bev Haid, S. A. Wells, Rita Shaw, Lucy Perry, K. Fairfield, John Perry III and Lindsay Perry, the Horton family, Karin Olson, Grace Lashua, Paul Grant, Norman and Doris Simard, Sylvia Martel, Rene and Julia Dumont, Don and Shirley Hondel and from groups with names like Saco Middle School Students, B. P. O. Elks No. 1597, Back to Health Chiropractic, Cardullo Investments, Inc., Saco Grange No. 53, Saco Book Discussion Group, Aetna Foundation and C. K. Burns School Students.
And the call continues to be answered by: the churches of Trinity Episcopal, First Parish and North Saco Congregational, Unitarian Universalist of Saco and Biddeford, Cornerstone Methodist, Bible and United Baptist, Most Holy Trinity, St. Demetrious and St. Augustine. We also recognize such people as: Saul and Rita Penn, Andy and Pat Deshaies, Raymond and Jacqueline Cote, Donald and Patricia Sandos, Al and Bernadette Coulombe, Michael and Susan Spath, Alan and Susan Marston, Anne Sirois, Mike and Madeleine Masselli, Bill and Anita McPheson, Steve and Celine Sedgelley, Constance Giguere, John and Louise Morgan, James and Helen Meisener, Jeanne Hogen, Mark and Lauren Giguere, Richard and Giguere, Ronald and Marie Labrecque, Gerard and Denise Deshaies, Sure Winner Foods, Shaw’s Saco, Saco Hannaford, Hair Works, Fernleaf Bakery, Little Wonders Day Care, Leeward Landing Thrift Store in York, Michael Garrity, Saco Little League Kiwanis Club of Biddeford-Saco and this newspaper.

By the concern shown for the 579 people helped last month, another mile traveled has been made easier. To all those mentioned, those who remain anonymous standing in the shadows and on behalf of the over 50 volunteers, who freely donate approximately 200 hours each month acting in your stead, thank you. May all and your families find good health, sunshine and God’s blessings.
