BIDDEFORD — Joe “Quarter Keg” Laverriere, 81, of Naugatuck, Connecticut and Saco, passed away June 8, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut.
He was born in Biddeford on May 28, 1934, a son of Henri and Irene Laverriere of Biddeford. He was a graduate of St. Louis High School.
Joe served his country in the Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Eagles in Saco and Naugatuck, Connecticut.
Joe worked hard all his life at many different jobs, including as a postman in Saco, butcher, owner of a bike repair shop, and carpenter. Fixing things was a passion.
Joe gained the love and respect of everyone he met, always wearing a smile on his face.
He attended church in Naugatuck and Biddeford every weekend.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Helen, who died in May 2009.
He is survived by: two brothers, Adrian and wife Claudette of Florida, and Donald and his wife Bettina of Maine; and a sister, Antoinette of Maine. He is also survived by four daughters, Tina Gardener of Saco, Mia Lamb of Saco, Tricha Metayer and husband Donald of Saco, and Leslie Pettine and husband Ron of Naugatuck, Connecticut. Also surviving are a stepdaughter and son, Julie and Edward.
Joe is also survived by: five grandchildren, Christopher, A.J., Nick, Kelsey, and Adam; a great-grandaughter, Olivia; as well as many nieces and nephews. He also had many blood and non-blood relatives who loved him.
Joe will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 9 at Buckmiller Funeral Home in Naugatuck, Connecticut from 5-8 p.m.
On Friday, July 10, there will be a ceremony in the chapel at the veterans cemetery, followed by the burial.
