Sweet Adelines

On Saturday, June 27, Royal River Chorus of Sweet Adelines International, will perform at 7 p.m. at North Windham Union Church, Roosevelt Trail, Windham. Tickets at the door. Proceeds to benefit Windham Community Garden.

Roast Pork Supper

The Windham Knights of Columbus will hold a roast pork public supper, Saturday, June 13, from 5-6 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 919 Roosevelt Trail (Route 302), Windham. Dinner includes roast pork with gravy and applesauce, homemade mashed potatoes, carrots, fresh rolls, coffee, tea, water or fruit punch and our homemade dessert buffet. Meals are available to take out. It is $9 for adults, $4 for age 12 and under and a family maximum of $25. Proceeds benefit The Knights of Columbus Charity Fund.

Memories?

Ever thought about writing a memoir for your grandchildren, or would you like to write about a trip, vacation, moment of fame, lies you’ve told, etc.? The subject can be true, fiction, humorous or for your pleasure. On Wednesday, June 24, at 10 a.m., David Alexander, Lakes Region Senior Center member, will explore the level of interest in this subject. This will be the “inaugural” organization meeting. Everyone is invited to join in, bring a friend your pencil and notebook. The meeting will be at the Lakes Region Senior Center, 40 Acorn St., Gorham. For more information, call David at 892-5604.

Free Pass

Visit the Tate House this summer with a pass from the Windham Public Library. Thanks to the Friends of the WPL, a pass that will admit four people is available. The Tate House is open Wednesday through Sunday, through November. Call the library (892-1908) for more information. Pass can be issued up to 30 days in advance of your visit.

Therapy Service Animals

On Monday, June 29 at 10 a.m., therapy service animals will be the topic at Lakes Region Senior Center, Acorn Street, Gorham. Drema Shaw, a member of Gorham Health Council and a retired physical therapist from Gorham, will speak about therapy service animals and their value to people. This is a free presentation open to everyone interested. Refreshments will be served.

Bingo at Veterans Center

Every Tuesday through October, is Bingo Night at the Windham Veterans Center, provided by Standish American Legion Memorial Post 128. Doors are open at 4 p.m. and the Early Bird game starts at 6:10 p.m. with the regular games starting at 6:30 p.m. There are 14 regular games besides the Early Bird game plus the Winner Take All game. Pull Tabs are also available. Refreshments including hot dogs, soft drinks, coffee and baked goods available for sale by the Windham Field Allen Post 148 Auxiliary. All proceeds go to benefit veterans and their families.

Medicare Counseling

On Tuesday, June 16, the Southern Maine Agency on Aging (SMAA) will offer Medicare help at the Lakes Region at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 919 Roosevelt Trail, Windham. A “Welcome to Medicare” seminar is scheduled from 10 a.m.-noon. In addition to the seminar, there will be one-on-one counseling with volunteer Medicare advocates available from 9 a.m. to noon. Call SMAA to register for a seminar or to make a one-on-one appointment with a Medicare Advocate at 396-6500 or 1-800-427-7411. Seminar walk-ins can usually be accommodated. Ernie Mitchell, a Windham Historical Society member, cuts limbs from a downed tree to make room for a new road into the Society’s property on Windham Center Road. The new entrance will lead to a parking lot for the Village Green, which the society is developing as a living history center.
