Award for Glacial Multimedia

Glacial Multimedia Inc., a Westbrook-based Internet marketing and website design agency, was awarded the 2015 Interactive Media Awards – “Best in Class” for healthcare websites.

Glacial’s design and production team was recognized for its work with SouthWestern Eye Center, a medical practice with multiple locations in Arizona and New Mexico. The website can be viewed at www.sweye.com. The website was designed with a balance of artistic integrity and user-friendly features in mind, according to the press release.

Started in 2000, Glacial Multimedia has since worked with more than 400 medical practices, several medical equipment companies, numerous non-profits and medical societies. One of its founding partners is Michael Dobkowski, a Windham/Westbrook native, who leads the Westbrook office.

Gousse, Bombard earn advanced degrees

Joseph G.E. Gousse recently received a Juris Doctor degree and graduated cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law.

At commencement ceremonies held at Merrill Auditorium, Gousse also received the Wernick Prize for Legal Writing and was recognized by the dean and faculty for his work with Native American rights.

Gousse is a 2012 graduate of the University of New England who majored in political science and a 2008 graduate of Westbrook High School. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Marc Edward Gousse of Westbrook.

Amanda L. Bombard, valedictorian of the class of 2015, has graduated from the University of New England College of Pharmacy in Portland with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

At the class Hooding Ceremony held on May 17 at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center, Bombard was recognized by the dean and faculty for academic excellence in the program’s two major fields ?of study, pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical science. Bombard was also honored as the top academic student in her class for four consecutive years.

She is a 2008 graduate of Westbrook High School and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Bombard of Westbrook.

Several Westbrook students were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Saint Joseph’s College in Standish. They are Katherine Conley, Jacob Crawford, Spencer La Count, Gabrielle Lodge, Jarrick Russo, Melissa Smith, and Matthew Weimer.

At Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Penn., Amber Wallace of Westbrook has been awarded dean’s list status this spring.

Earns degree

Glenn Emery, a Westbrook resident, was among more than 800 students from Providence College who received undergraduate degrees during the college’s 97th commencement exercises held on May 17. Emery graduated with a bachelor’s degree.

Girl Scouts earn Silver awards

Gabrielle Begos and Maureen Grant, both of Westbrook, recently were among 37 Girl Scouts who were awarded Silver Awards by the Girl Scouts of Maine in a ceremony at the Augusta Civic Center.

The awards are for projects completed this year, demonstrating leadership and citizenship skills.

Members of Westbrook and Gorham police departments teamed up June 3 for an annual torch run to benefit Special Olympics. Westbrook officers took over the run from their Gorham counterparts at Crockett Interiors in Gorham near the city line. Officer Ted Hatch of Gorham said the team had raised $1,825 by the day of the run.Staff photo by Robert LowellGousse.jpgDerek Beck of Westbrook was honored Saturday by the Portland Sea Dogs as part of an event called “Anthem’s Heroes At Hadlock,” sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and the Maine Children’s Cancer Program.
