Shark Tank Portland“Shark Tank,” the ABC television show that allows entrepreneurs to pitch their business ideas to a group of potential investors (or “sharks”) before a national TV audience, will hold a casting call in Portland on July 29.

Back in April, we reported the TV show’s plan to cast its line for entrepreneurs in Portland, but an exact date and location were unknown before now.

The casting call will take place on the morning of Wed., July 29, at the Italian Heritage Center at 40 Westland Ave. in Portland. The doors open at 9 a.m. and only the first 500 participants will be allowed in. Interviews begin at 10 a.m. and each entrepreneur will have only one minute to pitch his or her business idea to a member of the casting crew.

The show features famous investors – real estate magnate Barbara Corcoran, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, FUBU clothing founder Daymond John, venture capitalist Kevin O’Leary, QVC queen Lori Grenier and technology innovator Robert Herjavec – who consider pitches from entrepreneurs and then decide whether to invest in them.

In 2012, Scarborough natives and cousins Sabin Lomac and Jim Tselikis received $55,000 from Corcoran for their Cousins Maine Lobster food truck business, which is now a national franchise with 10 locations.

Who thinks they’ll throw their hat in the ring on July 29? Feel free to chime in below in the comments.
