Speaker’s topic is human trafficking

This season’s final Potluck With a Purpose program about human trafficking is set for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 12, at South Gorham Baptist Church, 53 County Road (Route 22), Gorham.

“We are very fortunate to have Nancy Gallinaro as our speaker,” organizer Cindy Elder said in an announcement. “As a ministry partner with Hope for Freedom in Florida and now simply a woman with a heart to end human trafficking in Maine, Nancy will share how ordinary people can do extraordinary things to educate others, support our safe houses, and reach out to those most vulnerable here in greater Portland.”

Elder said Gallinaro will show “Chosen,” a short documentary produced by Shared Hope International, depicting how girls are lured and tricked into “the life.”

“It was recently announced that gangs in California are now making more money from sex trafficking than drugs,” Elder said. “This same training material has been used to educate more than 10,000 young girls in the schools of Palm Beach County just last year.”

Those attending the meeting are asked to take food to share for the potluck meal. Newcomers are always welcome, Elder said. The programs will resume in the fall.
