Lake Region phenom Kate Hall padded her resume a bit at Morse High School in Bath on Saturday at the Class B State Championship, once again winning all three of her events. Hall’s victories in the 100, 200 and long jump are her – get this – 24th, 25th and 26th Maine crowns.
Hall devoured the 100, breaking the proverbial tape in 11.69 seconds and in the process setting a new state record. Concerned readers need not fret that some track star from generations past has been dethroned and is presently at home weeping over old newspaper clippings, though, since Hall also held the old record, 11.83.
Samantha Robinson of York finished second in the event, in 12.97 seconds.
Hall took the 200 in 24.82, nearly a second and a half faster than Belfast’s Cassidy Hill, the No. 2 finisher. She didn’t beat her own record – 24.36 seconds – in this particular event, but that’s OK, because she utterly annihilated it in the long jump. Hall leapt 20 feet 4.75 inches, an improvement of 1 foot 4.25 inches over her 2014 mark. York’s Katherine Bullock took second, at 17 feet 1 inch.
Hall will next compete at the New England Championships, being held Saturday at Thornton Academy in Saco.
