SANFORD — Jacqueline “Jackie” L’Heureux, 89, of Sanford, died on June 6, 2015 at the Pavilion in Sanford following a period of declining health.
Jackie was born in Sanford on July 12, 1925, the daughter of Theodore Gagne, Sr. and Mary (Cote) Gagne.
She attended Holy Family Grammar School and then went to work for the Goodall Worsted Mills in Sanford, where she stayed until they closed. After the mills closed, she began working for Jagger Brothers as a winder and reeler and continued to do so until her retirement in 1990.
On Nov. 6, 1943, she married Aram (Ram) L’Heureux, and together they raised three children and shared 37 years of marriage until his death in 1981.
In addition to her husband, Jackie is preceded in death by: her younger brother, Theodore Gagne Jr.; her parents; her son, Bernard; and her sister, Lillian Y. Roy.
Jackie is survived by: two children, her daughter, Rachel Buchala of Sanford; and her son, Gerard (Jerry) L’Heureux and his wife Nancy of Alfred; six grandchildren, Mark Rouillard and his wife Kelley, Alan Rouillard and his wife Teri, Kevin Leslie and his wife Aleta, Robert L’Heureux and his wife Heidi, Melissa Moorehead and her husband Greg, and Heather Alderton and her husband Doug; and eight great-grandchildren, Brandon, Connor and Grace L’Heureux, Ainsley Moorehead, Berkley and Lily Alderton, Nora Rouillard, and Cody Leslie.
The family would like to thank the staff at both the Southridge Living and Rehabilitation Center in Biddeford and the SMHC Pavilion in Sanford, as well as the Staff of Life Choice Hospice for the compassionate care give to their mother and grandmother.
Visitation will be held from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10 at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, located at 29 Winter St. in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford. Interment will be at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.
