BIDDEFORD — Lucien J. “Slim” Demeule, 77, of Biddeford, died Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at his home following a long illness.
He was born in Biddeford on March 13, 1938, a son of Elzear and Malvina (Marceau) Demeule. He attended local schools and had received his GED in 1995 through Biddeford Adult Education.
Slim had served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1956 to 1964.
He began his working career with the former York Heel, where he was employed for 10 years. Later, he worked as a plumber with Pillsbury Plumbing, and for 28 years he was a pipefitter at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring in 2006. In his retirement, he had worked as a chauffeur with Hope Memorial Chapel.
On Sept. 4, 1964 he married Monique Godbout in St. Joseph’s Church.
He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Slim enjoyed watching Patriots football games and golf. He also loved hunting, fishing and scuba diving.
Lucien is preceded in death by: his daughter, Michelle, in 1971; a grandson, Breyden, in 2006; three brothers: Paul, John, and Maurice Demeule; and by sisters, Laurette Baillargeon, and Juliette Yorke.
He is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Monique Demeule of Biddeford; three sons, Robert Demeule and his wife Elizabeth of Saco, Todd Demeule and his wife Judy Ann of Biddeford, and Paul Demeule and his wife Carol of Biddeford; two sisters, Marcella Sellers of Bonita springs, Florida, and Lucille Garland of Old Orchard Beach; seven grandchildren, Sean, Darin, Nicholas, Alexandra, Hunter, Jillian, and Justin; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Tuesday, June 9 at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
