BIDDEFORD — Roger Jean, 92, of Biddeford, died Friday, May 29, 2015 at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough after a long illness surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Lewiston on July 4, 1922, the son of Oliva and Leda Laliberte Jean, and was educated in Auburn schools.

Mr. Jean served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

On May 4, 1946, he married Valeria R. Perreault in St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. She died June 20, 2007.

Roger worked 22 years with the Pepperell Mfg. Co. in Biddeford, five years with New England Homes in Biddeford Industrial Park, and six years with Saco Tanning Corp. in Saco, retiring in 1983.

He was an active member of St. Joseph Church, serving as a sacristan and usher. He also was a member of the Biddeford VFW.

He is preceded in death by: a daughter, Priscille C. Jean on Feb. 22, 2015; a brother, Roland Jean; and two sisters, Clemence Moreau, and Lucille Cusson.

He is survived by: three sons, Raymond Jean and his wife Claire of Arundel, Paul Jean and his wife Priscille of Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Canada, and Robert Jean of Thomaston; a daughter, Therese Patten and her husband Peter of Westbrook; three sisters, Rita Castonguay and her husband Bertrand of Jay, Beatrice Gallant of Minot, and Annabelle Paradis and her husband Norman of Jay; five grandchildren, Janet Parker and her husband Chris of Smyrna, Georgia, Patty Ekster and her husband Mike of Gray, Jeffrey Patten of Westbrook, Kyle Patten and his fiancée Katie Brugman of Redondo Beach, California, and Michael Jean and his wife Jade of Porter’s Lake, Nova Scotia, Canada; two great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Parker and Emily Ekster; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, June 4 at Hope Memorial Chapel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 5 at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
