When you talk about someone named Biden, pretty much everyone would first think of Vice President Joe Biden ”“ and for good reason.
Joe Biden spent three decades in the United States Senate and has been our vice president for the past six-plus years.
The Biden I am going to talk about in this column, however, is former Delaware Attorney General and Joe Biden’s son, Beau.
Beau Biden passed away on Saturday at the age of 46 after a battle with brain cancer.
The loss is tragic for the obvious reasons: Two kids are now without a father, a father has to bury his own son and a wife has to live without her partner.
I sent out a message on Twitter to the Vice President and his family following the passing of Beau ”“ and I urge all of you to send your thoughts and prayers to the Biden family.
I will not only mourn the loss of Beau, but the loss of all the potential he had.
Beau Biden was creating his own path and his own legacy in the world of public service before cancer stole him.
He was a two-term attorney general, a former federal prosecutor and the favorite to be the next governor of Delaware.
Beau was a member of the Delaware National Guard, serving a tour in Iraq, and was a Major in the Judge Advocates General Corps.
If you look at his resume, which includes degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Syracuse, you see a person that was destined to do great things.
If you would have told me there would be a President Biden in the future, I would have put my money on Beau, not Joe.
Unfortunately, cancer has once again taken someone way too soon and deprived us all of his future.
Now all we can do is mourn the loss of a great man. Rest in peace, Beau.
