BATH
From 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 28, the Mustard Seed Book Store located at 74 Front St. in downtown Bath, will host author Marsha Hinton in a workshop titled How to Build a Book.
Hinton, a ghostwriter who also freelances for local newspapers and magazines, has authored two novels under her own name and is currently working on her third using a simple method.
“When I was first challenged to write a work of fiction, I had no idea how to do it,” Hinton said. “I could write non-fiction all day. Coming up with a viable idea and carrying it through the length of a novel was a different story.”
After reading everything she could get her hands on regarding writing fiction, she uncovered a blueprint for novels.
“There are lots of books out there on writing that are excellent,” Hinton explained. “There aren’t very many that talk about the necessary foundations for a novel or non-fiction work. This isn’t some arcane knowledge. You don’t need to depend on a muse to guide you. Writing a book is a process that can be duplicated. I’ve done it. So can you.”
The public is invited to join Hinton at the Mustard Seed Book Store to learn how to build fiction and nonfiction books in a relaxed and open atmosphere.
