I have thought for a while now that Jeb Bush, the former Florida Governor, was the frontrunner to be the Republican presidential nominee in 2016.

Now, I think he has as much chance of being president as Rick Santorum or Bernie Sanders ”“ none.

That’s because on Saturday, Bush told Fox News’ Megyn Kelly that even knowing what we know now, he would have authorized the invasion of Iraq.

So, knowing that there were no weapons of mass destruction and knowing the quagmire Iraq would become once Saddam Hussein was taken out, Jeb Bush would still send American troops to war?

Well, thanks for playing, Jeb. You have just gone from a frontrunner to a punchline.

I know that Jeb went on Sean Hannity ”“ where else ”“ to defend his comments and say he misheard the question.

Fine, let’s take him at his word. So what would his answer have been?

“I don’t know what that decision would have been, that’s a hypothetical,” Bush said. “The simple fact is mistakes were made and we need to learn from mistakes of the past to make sure we’re strong and secure going forward.”

Well, that clears that up.

Taking that one comment out of the equation all together, the one thing that will turn voters away from his candidacy is the fact that he has stated that his brother, former President George W. Bush, is his top foreign policy advisor.

George W. Bush seems like a good man and someone that you would love to have over for a cookout ”“ but he should not be advising anyone on foreign policy.

The former president not only left his successor with a terrible economy, but he took our country into two wars, including one that should have never been fought.

I have always been supportive of the war in Afghanistan because that was in response to an attack on our country.

But, the Iraq War was fought based on a lie and was without a doubt unwinnable.

So if Jeb Bush would even consider using a foreign policy doctrine similar to his brother’s ”“ I think that should take him out of the running for president.

Democrats need another option

Let’s talk about another candidate who comes from a political dynasty ”“ Hillary Clinton.

Clinton is still the clear frontrunner for the Democratic nomination and that, frankly, scares me.

The former First Lady has been running for over 30 days now and she has answered a total of eight questions from the press.

Has that ever happened in a presidential election before?

Clinton has been hiding because of a growing scandal over her family’s foundation and money that it accepted during her time as Secretary of State.

Now, I don’t know if there is any truth to the claims by the conservative author who brought this scandal to the forefront. But, I do believe it has shined a light on the fact that Hillary Clinton is hoping to be crowned president and not fight for it.

I have said before that voters deserve a battle for the presidency and I still believe it.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has jumped into the race, but like I said above, he doesn’t have a chance.

So, let’s hope that people like former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb, former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chaffee and Vice President Joe Biden jump into the race.

I would even love to see someone like former Vice President Al Gore decide to get back into politics and make another run at the White House.

We all deserve a fight for the presidency ”“ not a coronation.

Chris Christie’s concession stand spree

Before I wrap this up, I have to mention a report that came out recently about New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. No, not the ongoing bridge scandal, but the fact that he allegedly spent over $82,000 at MetLife Stadium, which is home of the Giants and Jets.

Now, as someone who has spent over $100 during a game at a pro stadium before, I get how you can spend a lot of money. But according to this report, Christie spent the 82K over 58 different purchases. That’s an average of over $1,400 per purchase.

Now, that’s a lot of hot dogs.
