BIDDEFORD — Isabel J. (Boucher) Johnson, 94, of Biddeford, and formerly of Long Island, Maine, died on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
She was the wife of the late Earl A. Johnson, who passed away on Dec. 1, 2001.
Isabel was born on May 10, 1921 in Biddeford, a daughter of the late Ephrem J. and Albertine (Lemire) Boucher. She attended Biddeford schools, graduating from Biddeford High School. She returned to Biddeford about 18 months ago after spending her entire married life on Long Island, ironically living at Biddeford Estates, which was formerly Webber Hospital, the hospital she was born in.
She was a homemaker and loving mother to her three children; once the children were on their own, she went to work at the Bonanza Steak House in Portland, where she was proud of being named Employee of the Month.
Isabel was a member of the Long Island Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign War and a member of the Long Island Civic Association. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and she loved to bake; the children on Long Island always knew there would be a special treat waiting for them at Isabel’s house.
She is survived by: her three children, Earl Johnson and his wife Kathy of Irwin, Pennsylvania, Kathy Graffam of Dracut, Massachusetts, and Judith French of Long Island, Maine; her grandchildren, Stephanie Pyle and her husband David of Hollis, New Hampshire, Timothy Johnson and his wife Patricia of Hempfield, Pennsylvania, David Johnson and his wife Melynda of Rahway, New Jersey, Richard Graffam of Derry, New Hampshire, James Graffam of Dracut, Massachusetts, Jarod Johnson of Long Island, Maine, and Bonny Graffam of Center Barnstead, New Hampshire; and 14 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her siblings, Edmund Boucher and his wife Marilyn of Smithfield, and Muriel Martel of Biddeford; as well as sister-in-laws Carolyn Peterson and Sylvia Horr. She was also the grandmother of the late Kendall Graffam and was also preceded in death by four other siblings.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
