Candice Tucker of Gorham, who had been indicted on manslaughter charges in the death of her teenage son and her boyfriend last year, was sentenced to prison on Monday.
In a court plea agreement in Cumberland County Court in Portland, Tucker received 12 years in prison with all but four years suspended with four years probation. Judge Nancy Mills heard the case and meted out the punishment.
Tucker, 34, was driving the car that crashed Oct. 19, 2014, in Bridgton, claiming the life of her son, Branden Denis, 16, who was a standout Gorham High School football player, and her boyfriend, Eric S. Morey, 35. Prosecutor Michael Madigan told the court that both died from trauma.
Tucker pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of manslaughter. Tucker appeared in court wearing a red jail jumpsuit with the letters CCJ on the back. Her legs were shackled with chain.
The Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement earlier on Monday that Tucker was indicted in December on two counts of manslaughter and two counts of aggravated operating under the influence.
