BRUNSWICK — Gorham Bike and Ski of Portland has opened a new location in Brunswick at 88 Union St. The Brunswick location is the third bike and ski location for the company. The company also has a seasonal Nordic ski store in Jackson, N.H.
General Manager Dave Palese said, “We love getting people on bikes. It’s our passion and our mission. For a year or so we had been looking for an opportunity to expand our reach and bring our high level of customer service and great products to more people. The Brunswick location presented itself and we immediately knew it was the right opportunity. The town is great. The community is vibrant, has lots of growing families and Bowdoin College.”
In addition to bikes and accessories from Trek Bicycle, Bontrager and other brands, the store will also offer Alpine and Nordic skis and gear for the whole family, as well as a kids ski lease program in the fall.
To run the day-to-day operations of the store, Gorham Bike and Ski has hired Brunswick resident and cycling enthusiast Steve Kilburn as store manager. Kilburn shares the company’s passion and vision for getting more people on bikes.
“I am very excited to be managing the Gorham Bike and Ski location in Brunswick.
This is my home, my community. Cycling is a lifelong activity and has many health benefits. But the best part? It’s fun,” Kilburn said.
The company, in conjunction with the Brunswick Downtown Association, will be holding a ribbon cutting on Saturday, May 9 at 11 a.m. The public is encouraged to attend and enjoy some refreshments and food to celebrate the new location and the start of the cycling season.
