SACO — Maurice A. Corbeil, 95, of Saco, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2015, at VA Togus Hospital in Augusta.
He was born in Canada on April 20, 1920, a son of Alcide and Albina (Du-charme) Corbeil. At the age of 6, Maurice moved to Saco with his family. He was educated at Saco schools.
Maurice served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was employed as a painter for several different contractors. He also worked for 20 years for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1971.
His hobbies included carpentry, playing the violin, listening to music and gardening. He enjoyed boating, fishing and cross country skiing. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family.
He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of For-
eign Wars.
He is preceded in death by: his first wife, Theresa (Gagne) in 1971; his second wife, Fernande (Tardif) in 2009; one grandson, Michael; and two brothers, Alderic and Ulysses.
He is survived by: two sons, Roger Corbeil and his wife Joan of Sarasota, Florida, and Roland Corbeil and his wife Elaine of Summerfield, Florida; and one daughter, Rachel Laverriere and her husband Rick of Biddeford. He is also survived by: three grandchildren, Melissa Dewitt, Shari Smith, and Lori Laverriere; three great-grandchildren, Heidi Corbeil, Liam Smith and Londyn Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 3-6 p.m., Sunday, May 3 at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St., Saco.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, May 4 at Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
