SACO — Robert E. Wilbur passed away on March 29, 2015 at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough with his loving family by his side.

Robert was born in Biddeford on Sept. 7, 1937, the son of Melvin E. and Isabelle Alexander Wilbur.

Bob was educated in Saco schools, graduating from Thornton Academy in 1957. During high school, he worked on the merry-go-round for Palace Amusements in Old Orchard Beach.

He then served in the U.S. Marine Corp.

He is survived by: his sister-in-law, Selma Wilbur of Saco; five nieces, Beverly Battle of Scarborough, Diane and her husband Richard Bartlett of Dayton, Lynne and her husband Marc Parent of Biddeford, Nancy Tracy of Bangor, and Carol and her husband Gary Spinney of Rockland; and other extended family members, Frank Adams and his daughter Jane of Bucksport, and Amy and Jared Goodness of Hollis.

A graveside service will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco on Monday, April 6 at 1 p.m. Arrangements are with Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco.
