Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed the Shaw’s Supermarket on Main Street in Westbrook Tuesday night.
According to Westbrook police Capt. Michael Nugent, a white male approached the service window at about 6:30 p.m., told a clerk he had a gun and demanded that the clerk give him the money from the drawer.
After the clerk complied with the suspect’s demands he left as a passenger in a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Mercury Milan or a Ford Fusion, toward Riverside Drive. No firearm was actually displayed during the robbery, Nugent said.
The suspect was described as 28 to 33 years old, 5-feet-11-inches to 6-feet-2-inches tall and about 185 pounds with light scruffy facial hair. The case remains under investigation.
