OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Lynda S. Smith, 62, formerly of Old Orchard Beach, died unexpectedly of natural causes on March 22, 2015, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 1, 1953 in Saco, a daughter of Robert B. and Margaret A. Crowley Smith.
Lynda was educated in Old Orchard Beach schools and graduated from Old Orchard Beach High School. She later resided in Florida and Massachusetts before returning to Maine.
She had a long career in the hospitality industry and animal care services. Lynda volunteered for feline and animal rescue organizations and for numerous Democratic candidates’ political campaigns in the state of Maine.
Like many Mainers, Lynda was a devoted Red Sox and Patriots fan. She was a creative individual who enjoyed making beautiful crafts for her family and friends.
Lynda loved to ride horses. She was an avid reader of history and mystery books.
She is preceded in death by: her mother.
She is survived by: her father, of Saco; a sister, Deborah Mercurio and her husband Michael, of Marblehead, Massachusetts; a brother, Christopher Smith, of Provincetown, Massachusetts; and several cousins.
There will be no visitation. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Margaret’s Church in Old Orchard Beach at a date which will be announced later.
