PHIPPSBURG — Myrna M. Gilliam, 87, of West Point, passed away peacefully in the arms of her loved ones on March 18, 2015, at Parkview Adventist Medical Center after a long illness. At the time of her death, she resided in Jefferson, Maine, with her daughter Pam and her son-in-law Lester.
Myrna was born Aug. 18, 1927, in West Point at the family home. A daughter of Helen Richardson and Everett Wallace. She attended West Point School and later graduated from Morse high School class of 1945.
She owned and operated a small store for many years in West Point as well as holding other jobs throughout her years including housekeeper at Sebasco Lodge and a moss dryer at Small Point beach. She also worked for many years in the nursing field working at both Winship Green in Bath and Hawthorne House in Freeport.
Myrna was a former Grange member. She enjoyed crocheting, traveling and spending time with her many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She also loved to reminisce about vacations with her grandchildren and her trip to Atlantic City with Geneva. She was a loving and devoted mother, always doing for others.
Myrna was predeceased by her parents; as well as a great-grandson, Jonathan Wyman.
She is survived by her children, sons: Brian Gilliam and wife Diana of Phippsburg, Don Gilliam and his wife Tracy of Phippsburg, Joe Gilliam and wife Shannon of West Bath and Mark Gilliam of Topsham; daughters: Pam and husband Lester Baker of Jefferson, Audrey and husband Arlin Dullen of Pennsylvania; a sister, Betty Richotte and husband Curtis of Montague, MA; 22 grandchildren, Ryan Gilliam and Beth, Jacklyn Gilliam, Justin Gilliam, Jacob Gilliam, Nicholas Gilliam and his girlfriend Dana Wallace, Jason Gilliam, Kendra Rolfe, Adara Gilliam, Dain Gilliam, Drake Gilliam, Helen and Bruce Wyman, Harvey and Alissa Perry, Jessey Perry, David Perry, Heather Hansen, Christina Baker, Don E. Gilliam and Amy Skelton, Michael Pinette, Caleb Gilliam, Brandan Gilliam, Joey Gilliam, Brooke Gilliam; 23 greatgrandchildren, Xantha, Ariana and Vaya Gilliam, Andreya Gilliam, Jace Webb, Ava Rolfe, Cassidy Wyman, Libby Wyman, Cooper Wyman, Danee Rogers, Owen Perry, Ily Perry, Autumn Perry, Ian Baker, Julia Hansen, Leah Darling, Emily Darling, Elizabeth Hansen, Rebbeca Click, Damian Gilliam, Lydia Gilliam, Brett Gilliam, Faith Gilliam; a niece Rebecca Gildden of Montague, MA, and a nephew Jonathan Eggleston and his wife Luann of Turners Falls, MA.
Also very special people in her life; Geneva Beals of Phippsburg, who is like a sister, and Emma Colley of Bath, who was like a daughter. As well as very dear friends, Kelly and Tim Smith of Georgetown.
A celebration of Myrna’s life will be held at the Small Point Baptist Church in Phippsburg on Saturday, March 28 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Dan Coffin officiating.
