BRUNSWICK

Brunswick photographer Alan Sockloff is currently exhibiting photographic works at Enoteca Athena in Brunswick. Exhibit hours are 3:30-11 p.m., Monday- Saturday.

The photographs shown at Enoteca were taken throughout Maine during the past 25 years and demonstrate a variety of subjects, locations, and printing techniques. Varied subjects include dinghies and working boats in coastal Maine harbors, Monhegan Island scenes, semi-abstract images of dynamic water flow, and arrangements of aging flowers as metaphors for stages of human life.

Three types of printing processes are represented — most of the prints use the standard wet darkroom techniques of selenium toned black & white silver gel printing. Also used are two alternative processes, requiring contact printing on hand-coated paper. Aging flowers are printed as prussian blue cyanotypes, and Monhegan Island scenes are printed as brown platinum toned kallitypes.

Enoteca Athena is located at 97 Maine St. in Brunswick, and Sockloff ’s photographs will be shown through April.
