“AFTER THE RAIN” BY ELAINE REED
Elaine Reed will be the featured Gallery Talk Artist from 3:30-5 p.m. Sunday, March, 15, at 11 Centre St., Bath. The public is welcome, refreshments will be served and the suggested donation is $5.
Reed’s talk is titled “Challenging Yourself to Grow as an Artist.”
Reed will explore the importance of having a strong composition and value pattern before starting a painting, and in creating a response to the subject that is uniquely one’s own.
Why do people paint? What are people moved by? What do people feel passionate about? Reed will discuss and explore how these thoughts and decisions can help artists grow.
Reed has spent over 25 summers painting on Monhegan Island with an informal community of artists. This experience has been critical to her development as a painter. Her work is currently showing at the Mars Hall Gallery in Tennants Harbor and can be viewed online at tapwater-art.com as part of a NYC-based group of seven painters. Reed’s work can also be seen at her studio at 131 Oak St., Bath during the Bath Art Walk, which shows the third Friday of each month.
