FREEPORT — Celebrity chef, champion bass fisherman and TV personality Jimmy Kennedy highlights L.L. Bean’s Spring Fishing Weekend, happening this Friday through Sunday.
Kennedy will be available at the store on Saturday and Sunday conducting cooking demonstrations, offering bass fishing seminars, signing autographs and more.
Celebrity fly tiers for Saturday and Sunday include David Klausmeyer, Peter Smith and Edward “Muzzy” Muzeroll. These renowned tiers will be tying a variety of flies including classic streamers, patterns for saltwater, both here in the Northeast and for tropical species, as well as demonstrating some of the most cutting-edge techniques that anyone, whether they are a beginner or an expert, can learn from.
Other weekend highlights include free fly-casting lessons for kids and adults, rod testing, and kids’ activities like fly tying lessons, a casting game and more. There will also be a variety of clinics and seminars including presentations from L.L. Bean experts on topics ranging from surf casting for striped bass and bluefish, fly fishing in Alaska, to trick fly casting demonstrations.
Visitors can also enter to win L.L. Bean’s new Apex Fly Rod, the fastest, strongest and lightest fly rod L.L. Bean has ever made. Special promotions and savings begin Friday and extend through the weekend.
