PHIPPSBURG — Nathan “Nate” A. Johnson, 29, of Phippsburg, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015. He was born in Brunswick on Feb. 20, 1986, a son of Kennard Johnson Jr. and Elaine Campbell Stone.

He attended Brunswick Elementary, Phippsburg School and Morse High School and received his GED from Morse High in 2004. His greatest joy was his two boys, Dryden F. Johnson and Elijah Peaslee.

He had a great passion for cooking, having several culinary jobs. Nate took pride in providing a good barbeque for family and friends. But most recently he worked for DenRoss Rust Abatement in Lewiston. He had many fellow workers who he admired and had a tight bond with. He loved being outdoors, camping, disc golfing, reading and spending time with family and friends. He was always willing to help others. Nate was known by many for his big heart and smiling face. He had a special place in his heart for his grandmother in Phippsburg. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather James “Bud” York.

He is survived by his father, Kennard

Johnson Jr. of Lisbon, his mother, Elaine Stone and stepfather Kevin of Phippsburg, his sons Dryden and Elijah of Bath, his maternal grandmother Marilyn York of Phippsburg, and several uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
