ARUNDEL — Jerry (Gerard) E. Labbe, 79, of Arundel, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice in Scarborough.
He was born Sept. 21, 1935 in Arundel, a son of Ernest and Phebe (Jalbert) Labbe, and was educated in Biddeford Schools.
He served in the U.S. Army, honorably discharged in October 1959.
On Oct. 6, 1956, he married Donna Lee Romprey in St. Mary’s Church in Biddeford.
Jerry used to work in management at local shoe and plastic manufacturing companies until he retired due to a disability. He was very proud that he had been a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Besides spending time with family, his favorite social activity was meeting up daily with friends at McDonald’s and his special visits and phone calls with his sister, Jeannette. He also enjoyed motorcycle riding, woodworking, Nascar racing and word-search puzzles.
He is preceded in death by: his wife, and love of his life, Donna, on March 6, 2002; a granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Labbe on Nov. 8, 1977; and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by: a son, Paul G. Labbe of Arundel; a daughter, Diane M. Kane and her husband Stephen of South Portland; granddaughters, Jennifer Lynn Breton of Saco, Kirsten L. Kane of Scarborough, and Cassandra L. Labbe of Kennebunk; great-grandchildren, Riley Hutchins and Aubree Breton; sisters, Alice St. Michel and Jeannette Goulet of Arundel, and Pauline Labbe of New Hampshire; a brother, Conrad Labbe of Biddeford; and several nieces and nephews.
Per the wishes of the deceased, there will be no services; a private burial will take place in the spring.
