Both the South Portland boys and girls teams picked up quarterfinals wins at the Portland Expo on Monday.

The boys, No. 2 in A West at 16-3 (good enough for a bye through the prelims), grabbed a 65-45 win over seven-seed Cheverus, who now retire for the year at 11-9.

The No. 5 girls, meanwhile, jump to 15-5 (including a prelims win over Westbrook) on an upset-victory over fourth-ranked Deering, 49-37. The Rams depart the bracketing 15-4.

The gentleman Riots will face Falmouth, who narrowly overcame Westbrook on Monday in Friday night’s 8:30 semifinal at the Cross Insurance Arena. Their lady counterparts will meet McAuley, victors over Portland, in Thursday night’s 8:30 game, also at Cross.
