SANFORD — Eva A. Bourque, 98, of Sanford, died on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015 at the Monarch Center in Saco.

Eva was born in Westbrook on Feb. 4, 1916 to Napoleon and Yvonne (Des-chenes) Fortin.

She grew up in Sanford, where she attended local schools. When she was a young woman she was employed for several years at a local shoe shop.

She married Edward Bourque in 1940, and together they shared 60 years of marriage until his death in 2000.

Eva enjoyed making crafts, reading and going shopping. She was a devout Catholic and had been a communicant of St. Ignatius Parish in Sanford.

Eva was a loving and devoted sister and aunt, and always enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a kind and generous woman, and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Eva was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; and by three siblings, Irene Dube, Norman Fortin and Conrad Fortin.

She is survived by: her brother, Roland Fortin of Sanford; her sister, Fedora Gerrish and her husband Herbert of Lebanon; a sister-in-law, Laurette Fortin; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at St. Thérése of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford. Interment will be in the spring at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
