Edward B. Parker passed away peacefully in his home in Brooklyn, NY, in the early hours of Monday, Jan. 12, 2015. He was 88. Born in Littleton, NH, on April 3, 1926, of parents Florence and Edward Parker, he moved to Bath as a child and graduated from Morse High.

A veteran, he served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

Following service to his country, he worked in the insurance industry his entire career. Based in Manhattan, he worked for insurance companies and later for the New York Department of Insurance.

As a lifelong resident of New York he was able to enjoy his dual passions in life: Broadway and the opera. He collected playbills from hundreds of Broadway shows and amassed a large collection of opera recordings which he enjoyed immensely. He also was a baseball fan and often attended New York Mets games.

Although he grew up in rural New Hampshire and Bath, he came to love city life in New York. Edward never married and never even had a driver’s license.

He is survived by his sister in-law Barbara Parker of Woolwich, nephews Fred Parker of Seattle, WA and Jackson Parker of Woolwich, nieces Julie Greenlaw of West Bath and Susan Patterson of Warren. Survivors also include cousins Valerie Greene of Stoughton, Mass., Linda Greene of Tucson, Ariz., and Gayle Greene Watkins of Berlin, N.H. He was predeceased by his brother Reginald Parker of Woolwich.

Edward will be interred in the family plot in Franconia, N.H., in the spring. Those wishing to honor his memory may send a donation to SAGE, 305 7th Ave., New York, NY 10001, as he was an active member in that organization for many years.
