TOPSHAM — On Wednesday, February 11, 2015, the Topsham Garden Club will meet at the Topsham Public Library, 25 Foreside Road, Topsham, at 12:00 P.M. for a brown bag lunch and business meeting. Beverage and dessert are provided.
The program which starts at 1:30 p.m. is titled “Evolution of a Garden” about Rex Beisel and Craig Cotes, owners of Barred Owl Daylilies, efforts to build and landscape their gardens from scratch. It will touch upon their daylily business, and hybridizing as well. They are members of AHS and Southern Maine Daylily and Hosta Society (SMDHS).
According to their website http://www.barredowldaylilies.co m/, Barred Owl Daylilies, located in Otisfield, Me, is a small retail mail order business devoted to northern cold hardy tetraploid daylilies. They presently grow 1100 registered cultivars. The gardens are not open to the public, though visitors are welcomed by appointment during peak bloom, July 10 to August 17.
The meeting and program are open to the Public. Door prizes include two gift certificates to Barred Owl Daylilies and two copies of the just published AHS Illustrated Guide to Daylilies.
