Maine State Police say a tractor trailer crash caused some minor traffic backups Tuesday afternoon after it went off the Maine Turnpike in Gray.
The wreck has now been removed and evening commuter traffic will not be affected, said Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland.
The truck driver lost control of the rig at Mile 59 in the northbound lane about 12:30 p.m., McCausland said. The truck ended up alongside the road between guard rails and a rock ledge, but remained upright.
The driver, Timothy Lukas, 58, of Northwoods, N.H., had minor injuries and was taken to Maine Medical Center. The truck, which was hauling paper products, is owned by S.J Transport of Lee, N.H. Northbound traffic at the crash site was reduced to one lane for most of the afternoon. It is unclear why the driver lost control, McCausland said.
